Shuttered Lakeview big box store to become new medical facility

Chicago Curbed / AJ LaTrace –

A shuttered commercial block at the busy Clark and Halsted intersection in Lakeview is set to be refreshed and repurposed as a new medical facility. Advocate Medical Group and partner Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center have inked a lease with property owner Next Realty, LLC to transform the space at 3154 N. Clark Street into a new medical center spanning 42,000 square feet. According to Advocate, the location was selected for being a free-standing retail facility, for its parking, and for the possibility for future expansion.

The medical center will be robust, featuring services such as primary care, pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and behavioral health, Advocate announces. In addition, the facility will also offer imaging services and a medical lab. The new lease will see that an existing practice currently located at the nearby Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center campus move into the new facility to focus on primary care.

According to Next Realty, Advocate has already begun demolition and construction work and is targeting a summer 2018 completion.
