Former Sports Authority building to be converted to state-of-the-art outpatient center
Downers Grove, Ill. – Construction is underway to convert 42,000 square feet of space at the corner of Clark and Barry streets in Lakeview formerly occupied by The Sports Authority to an outpatient medical center.
Advocate Outpatient Center – Lakeview will house physicians and advanced practice clinicians in primary care, pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and behavioral health well as convenient imaging and lab services. The center is a partnership between nearby Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Advocate Medical Group to serve the growing and evolving health care needs of Lakeview and neighboring communities. Its innovative, patient-centric design includes a hotel-like lobby, off-stage clinical work areas, flexible exam rooms with enhanced patient privacy – even built-in charging stations for mobile devices. It is expected to open in summer 2018.
“The Sports Authority site gives us a tremendous opportunity to work with Advocate Medical Group to consolidate their local offices with a number of outpatient services currently housed in various areas of the hospital campus,” said Susan Nordstrom Lopez, president of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. “The site offers additional space for expansion, eventually including an immediate care center, and comes with parking, which is a constant challenge for our patients.”
An Advocate Medical Group practice currently located in the medical office center on Illinois Masonic’s campus will relocate to the new facility with room to expand as demand for primary care continues to increase. In addition, as a teaching hospital, Illinois Masonic currently houses internal medicine and obstetrics/gynecology teaching programs which will also relocate to the new facility. Immediate care staffed by advanced practice clinicians is planned for the future.
“Expanding our reach in Lakeview through this enhanced partnership with Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center enables us to offer greater access to high quality care in a convenient, outpatient setting,” said Dr. Vince Bufalino, president of Advocate Medical Group. “Everything from routine physicals and outpatient care to high-level treatments and intensive care will be available within just a few blocks.”
Advocate Medical Group offers online scheduling, an interactive patient portal and other consumer conveniences to make accessing care easier. To learn more, visit advocatehealth.com or call 1-800-3ADVOCATE.
